Irish Open Canoe Symposium 2013
Lough Erne October 5th & 6th 2013

So its been 3 years since we Last ran our Open Canoe Symposium In Graiguenamanagh, Co Kilkenny on the River Barrow focusing on white water skills, With over 60 Canoeists taking part it was a great success and this year we want to Match that.

This year we are Going on the Theme of Canoe Expedition skills, with an expedition style weekend.

We will Leave in our Fully Loaded Canoes Saturday Morning and Return Sunday evening, Wild Camping on an Island In the Middle of Lough Erne on the Saturday Night.

The weekend will break down Like this.

Friday Night Meet and Greet Venue (The Share Center)
Saturday: Meet 9am Smiths Strand
10am: Depart Smiths Strand, Mass Paddle to Island Set Up Camp Have Lunch.
1:30pm Workshop 1
5pm Return Chill out/Dinner
8pm Night Paddle (Conditions Permitting)
Rest of the Night Stories/Talks Round The Campfire.

Sunday:
10AM Workshop 2 or Depart for full day trip
1pm Lunch
2pm Trip
5pm Return to Smiths Strand

Advanced Strokes & Techniques (Solo)
Advanced Strokes & Techniques (Doubles)

Who will Be Delivering the Workshops?
We are Aiming to Have as many of Ireland’s Most experienced Canoe Instructors, Coaches and Paddlers on Hand to Deliver the Workshops and share there experiences(From Both Canoeing Ireland and CANI).

Cost
The Cost of this event is €60 or £52 per person, Each person will also be Entered into a draw for Some great Spot prizes.

What you need to Bring!!
All your Canoeing Gear, Boat, Paddle, Personal Equipment, Camping Gear, Food & Water for 2 days, Toilet roll & Trowel. (Bring as Much or as little as you want Just remember it will be going in your Canoe), We have a Leave no trace Policy so what goes in must come Out with us.

The Share Center have Kindly offered the use of there fleet of canoes for anyone who has not got there own or is traveling a Long Distance, We would ask that if you are Borrowing a canoe from the Share Center that you Make a small donation to them.

Who Is it For?
Everyone from Novice to Advanced, Ideally you should have a minimum of your 2 star (CANI), Level 2 Canoe Skills (CI) OR Equivalent Experience. Old and Young its all good its all about the love of the Outdoors and exploring it By Canoe.
