Graiguenamanagh Looped trip

Our most popular trip is our 3-hour Kayak or Canoe trip from Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny. This is a looped trip which takes in all the best parts of the river.  This trip runs daily at 10am 7 days a week and at 2pm Monday to Friday for the summer months of June, July & August.

Cost €50 per adult & €40 per child

Trip Description:

Starting off we will kit you out with all the necessary equipment, give you an introduction to the kayaks/Canoes, a safety brief and then we will be off on the river. Once on the water your Guides/Instructors will show you some essential skills and make sure you are comfortable. Then its off on our trip.

The trip is roughly 6+ km long and starts off in the village of Graiguenamanagh where we will travel along the river through a wooded valley with plenty of bird life up to a Lock system where we will bring you through the lock before entering a section of historic canal, from the canal we re-join the main river and return to Graiguenamanagh via some fun weirs and rapids.

Along the way your guides will tell you all about the history of this river, some interesting facts/stories on the area and take great care of you while on the water.

This trip is suitable for all levels of experience and for ages groups from 5 years and up.

We have the options of single sit in kayaks or Double Canadian Canoes. Upon booking you will have to decide which craft you would like. Most choose the kayak as our kayaks are stable, easy to use and they like to go straight.

Should river levels dictate this looped trip might be changed to a start in Graiguenamanagh finish in Saint Mullins trip, we will let you know if this is the case and you won’t need to worry about a thing.

“We did a kayak trip down the Barrow and it was amazing! Patrick and Philip were exceptional guides, showing us the history and uses that the river has served over the years. “We had a wonderful instructor who was patient and kind and took his time getting everyone comfortable on the water. We kayaked on river Bannon in Kilkenny and it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended and simply a brilliant adventure.
